PWR4 Volleyball Officially Introduced
A new volleyball format is here. PWR4 brings fresh rules, new scoring moments, and a faster, more dynamic identity for the game.
FIRST PWR4 VOLLEYBALL TEST MATCH SUCCESSFULLY PLAYED IN NOVA GORICA
The first official PWR4 Volleyball test match was played on 19 March 2026 in the sports hall “Balon” in Nova Gorica. The match was played by students of ŠC Nova Gorica and marked an exciting first live showcase of the new game format.
During the event, both versions of the game were tested:
1. Set played to a final score of 35 points
2. Time-based set with 8 minutes of pure playing time
The match was played under the new PWR4 Volleyball rules, introducing a faster, more dynamic, and more strategic version of volleyball. There were no mandatory player rotations, the same player could always serve, and substitutions were allowed at every stoppage, provided they were completed within 5 seconds.
Several signature scoring rules were tested during the match:
Ace = 3 points
Successful block = 3 points
PIPE 3 = 3 points
PIPE 4 = 3 points
Attack from the front zone = 2 points
Out error = 1 point
Missed serve = 1 point, but only after the team had used its bonus of four missed serves
After the bonus of four missed serves was used, an ace counted as 2 points
The match also demonstrated the difference between the two special back-row attacks:
PIPE 3
A back-row attack with only three contacts. A jump attack is not mandatory.
PIPE 4
A back-row attack on the fourth contact, where a jump attack is mandatory. The last pass must go from the front zone to the back zone, giving defenders more time to rotate and react.
This first test match confirmed that PWR4 Volleyball brings a fresh new rhythm to the sport — combining speed, tactical depth, and exciting scoring opportunities in every rally.
PWR4 Volleyball is no longer just an idea. It is now on the court.
